Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at kirstyhayhoe@indigomindfulsolutions.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

In our first sessions, I’ll teach you the principles of the Trust Technique, demonstrate with your animal, and then support you as you practise it yourself. Follow-up sessions gradually build your confidence and help you transfer the technique into more challenging or everyday environments, so you and your animal can stay calm, confident, and connected wherever you are.

In these sessions, we'll sit together and use a mix of conversation, guided exercises, and practical tools. We focus on helping you notice and work with your thoughts and feelings, rather than getting stuck in them, while clarifying what really matters to you. Each session is about building skills for presence, self-compassion, and committed action.

Every child is different, so session structure will vary depending on their needs. For some children, the most peaceful tool they need might be communication skills, from learning to speak (or use alternative communication) through to supporting building emotional skills, such as managing big feelings or increasing confidence in daily life. Whatever the starting point, the aim is always to support the child in becoming calmer, more confident, and more connected. Parent training will be included for communication and behaviour concerns.

This is the very minimum amount of time it can take to provide skills that will continue after support comes to an end. For example. for the child to learn and incorporate the basics of ACT or for parents to learn the skills necessary to promote and extend their child's communication skills. If looking at behaviours of concern, ensuring maintenance is vital.

It can be powerful to combine working with the animal and adult for mutual healing; it may also be beneficial for some children, and this will be considered on a case-by-case basis to ensure that it is mutually healing for both animal and child.

Payment is due in advance, at least 24 hours before your appointment. You can pay by bank transfer, or in cash on the day. Packages need to be paid in full before the first session.

Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged.
